Cultivar extended description: TIDLIG GRØNN SABEL, BERLE. Her tror jeg at Berle har drevet egen kontraktfrøavl på denne sorten og brukt eget stammenavn. Har diskutert dette med prof. Gudmund Balvoll som skriver: ’Etter mitt syn er det lite sannsynleg at Berle (i Bergen) dreiv eige utval i sukkererter og heldt "stamma" ved like. Kanskje var det berre innkjøp frå eit utanlandsk eller norsk frøfirma. Eg tvila på om det let seg gjera å finna fram til opphav og spesielle eigenskapar til desse stammene”. (Kilde Even Bratberg).
