Denna sort kommer från byn Karats Jokkmokk. Donatorn är född där kring 1940-1950 (osäker uppgift), han ärvde sorten och hans föräldrar och farföräldrar hade odlat den så länge man kunde minnas, enligt donatorn är den åtminstone från 1800. Mandat ändrades från REJ till PEN mars 2019 eftersom nya knölar skickats till NordGen från Göteborgs trädgårdar (Heinz Pettersson) våren 2016. Accession är under virusrensnings process. Friska in vitro-kloner ska accepteras för bevaring.
