Note: Description: Collection of Meadow Foxtail from old Icelandic meadows (2012-2013)Many old meadows are disappearing when cultivation practises change. The forages growing in the meadows have often been growing locally for many generations and are potentially harbouring important adaptations to local conditions. This Icelandic project is part of a larger Nordic effort to collect samples from old meadows before they disappear for good. In this project the aim is to collect Meadow Foxtail, Alopecurus pratensis , from about 20 meadows that were seeded some 50-60 years ago. These accessions will then be included into NordGen´s forage collection for long term ex situ conservation; Crop: Forages; Acronym: ISL2012/13; Scope: ngb
