Accession remark: Char: 97061, ONION98; Cultivar description: Breeders: J. Vik & K. Aastveit. ”Særmerkt for desse stammene (stamme III gjekk ut i dyrkingsforsøka i 1969-1973) andsynest handelssortane, var at dei var meir grotrege i lagringstida og hadde betre skalkvalitet. Dei kunne også konkurrera i bruttoavling med dei utanlandske, og i avling etter lagring låg alle over, serleg då St.II. Den vart offentleg godkjent som sort i 1977 og med namnet 'Lava'. Då denne sorten også hadde eit godt rotsystem synest den å vera meir tørkesterk enn andre.” Norsk lantbruksforskning, Sup. No. 9 1990. Norsk planteforedling i nåtid og framtid.
