Narrative
Amorosas History and usage:
Amorosa is originally from Sweden, Skåne. It is also known under the synonym Red Aroma. Amorosa is a mutation of Aroma formed 1988. It has been known in Denmark since 1990 and has s been grown widely in Denmark. The variety is or has been suitable for growing in orchards/in gardens. The apple is a dessert/cider/culinary apple. Amorosa grows at the Pometum.
The tree:
The tree has a vigorous, spreading growth. Amorosa was evaluated in the years 1997 and 1999 under unsprayed conditions in southern Germaniny. Amorosa had no scab on the apples, scab attack on a few leaves and mildew attack on very few shoots. The colour of the flower at the balloon stage is light pink, the blossom is in the middle of the season. The variety is diploid and has the following alleles of self-incompatibility 5/7.
The quality and season of the apple:
The season of the apple is medium early, to enjoy from September/Oktober. Amorosa is mature for harvesting middle early (last part of September). The apple has a very attractive appearance. The flesh is very juicy with a medium sweetness, medium acidity and some aroma. The overall flavour of Amorosa is evaluated as very good. The apple stores for a medium time.
The external of the apple:
The apple is big The shape is flat-globose conical and symmetric. The groundcolour of the apple is greenish yellow. The covercolour is red. The covercolour covers approx. 75 %/100 % of the apple. It forms a a solid flush with strongly defined stripes. The basin is none or very small ribbed.
