Lise Legind æbles History and usage
Lise Legind æble is a seedling of Danziger Kant x ? formed 1880 originally from Denmark, Nykøbing Mors. The variety is or has been grown rarely or not at all in Denmark. The apple is a dessert apple. Lise Legind æble grows at the Pometum. The cultivar is also shown at: Gl. Estrup

The tree:
The yield is medium/low. The cultivar is very robust towards apple scab, very robust towards apple mildew og very robust towards apple cancer. Lise Legind æble was evaluated under unsprayed conditions in the period of 2006-2009, it had no scab on the leaves, no scab attack on the apples, no fruit cancer on the branches, no shoots with mildew, very few fruits with flyspeck/soothy blotch and no shoots with rosy apple aphid. The flower buds are mainly situated at older branches. The flowers are large with petals, that are touching each other. The variety is diploid and has the following alleles of self-incompatibility 3/4.

The quality and season of the apple:
The season of the apple is late, to enjoy from November/December. Lise Legind æble is mature for harvesting middle early (last part of September). The apple has only a little attractive appearance. The flesh is medium juicy with a weak sweetness, medium acidity and none or a weak aroma. The apple has only a small tendency to be easily bruised. The overall flavour of Lise Legind æble is evaluated as medium good.

The external of the apple:
The apple is medium sized with a length of 60 mm and a diameter of 64 mm, measured at maximum width. The shape is globose and a little asymmetrical. The groundcolour of the apple is greenish yellow. The covercolour is red. The covercolour covers approx. 50 % of the apple. It forms a only a solid flush/a weakly defined flush with strongly defined stripes. The surface of the skin is waxy. The colour of the lenticells appear white in relation to the groundcolour and white/brown in relation to the covercolour. The stalk is long and medium thick, approx. 17 mm long and approx. 2,8 mm thick. The cavity is medium deep, without russet. The basin is medium deep/shallow, and the eye is large/1 and closed/open. The basin is a little ribbed.
