Jarnaks History and usage Jarnak is originally from Netherlands It is also known under the synonyms Borgherre. Jarnak is a seedling, formed før 1788. The variety is or has been grown rarely or not at all in Denmark. Jarnak grows at the Pometum. The cultivar is also shown at: Blomstergårdens Pomet/Gl. Estrup. The tree The yield is medium. The flower buds are mainly situated at young shoots/older branches. The colour of the flower at the balloon stage is dark pink, the blossom is in the middle of the season. The flowers are medium sized with petals, that are touching each other. The variety is triploid and has the following alleles of self-incompatibility 1/3/4. The quality and season of the apple The season of the apple is medium early, to enjoy from September/Oktober. Jarnak is mature for harvesting middle early (last part of September). The apple has only a little attractive appearance. The flesh is medium juicy with a medium sweetness, medium acidity and much aroma. The overall flavour of Jarnak is evaluated as medium good. The apple stores for a medium time. The external of the apple The apple is big with a length of 71 mm and a diameter of 83 mm, measured at maximum width. The shape is globose/flat-globose and symmetric. The groundcolour of the apple is yellow. The covercolour is orange. The covercolour covers approx. 25 % of the apple. It forms a a weakly defined flush with strongly defined stripes. The surface of the skin is a little rough. There are some lenticells. The lenticells are medium sized. The colour of the lenticells appear brown in relation to the groundcolour and lightbrown in relation to the covercolour. The stalk is long and medium thick, approx. 18 mm long and approx. 2,4 mm thick. The cavity is medium deep, with some russet. The basin is none or very small ribbed. The internal of the apple When you cut the apple from eye to stalk, you can see the following characteristics: The core is hearth shaped. If you cut the apple horizontally, the core will look half open. The diameter of the core is approx. 28mm. The core fill out approx. 0,34 of the cross cut of the whole apple. The pips are large and redbrown. The skin is thin and the fruit
