Stjerneæble II Samsøs History and usage Stjerneæble II Samsø is originally from Denmark from Samsø from Besser på Samsø Stjerneæble II Samsø is a seedling, formed 1930. Stjerneæble II Samsø has been known in Denmark since 1930. The variety is or has been grown rarely or not at all in Denmark. Stjerneæble II Samsø is or has been suitable for growing in orchards. The apple is a dessert apple. Stjerneæble II Samsø grows at the Pometum. The cultivar is also shown at: Gl. Estrup. The tree The yield is medium. The cultivar is very robust towards apple scab, sensitive towards apple mildew og very robust towards apple cancer. Stjerneæble II Samsø got in the period of 2006-2009 evaluated under unsprayed conditions. Stjerneæble II Samsø got scab attack on very few leaves, scab attack on only a few apples, no fruit cancer on the branches, mildew attack on almost half of the shoots, flyspeck/soothy blotch on almost half of the fruits and no shoots with rosy apple aphid. The flower buds are mainly situated at older branches. The colour of the flower at the balloon stage is light pink, the blossom is early. The flowers are medium sized with petals, that are touching each other. The variety is diploid and has the following alleles of self-incompatibility 1/4. The quality and season of the apple The season of the apple is late, to enjoy from November/December. Stjerneæble II Samsø is mature for harvesting late (last part of Oktober). The apple has more than an average/an average attractive appearance. The flesh is medium juicy with a strong/a medium sweetness, weak/medium acidity and some aroma. The apple has a big tendency to be easily bruised. The overall flavour of Stjerneæble II Samsø is evaluated as good/medium good. The apple stores for a very long time. The external of the apple The apple is big to very big/big with a length of 73/68 mm and a diameter of 89/83 mm, measured at maximum width. The diameter of the core is approx. 27/25mm. The core fill out approx. 0,31 of the cross cut of the whole apple.
