Sukkertop fra Vaalses History and usage Sukkertop fra Vaalse is originally from Denmark from Falster from Vaalse på Nordfalster Sukkertop fra Vaalse is a seedling, of Pigeonnet blanc d´hiver x ? Sukkertop fra Vaalse has been known in Denmark since 1917. The variety is or has been grown occasionally in Denmark. Sukkertop fra Vaalse was recommended for growing in Denmark latest in year 1939. The apple is a dessert apple. Sukkertop fra Vaalse grows at the Pometum. The cultivar is also shown at: Gl. Estrup. The tree The yield is medium. The canopy density is good. The cultivar is robust towards apple scab, robust towards apple mildew og very robust towards apple cancer. Sukkertop fra Vaalse got in the period of 2006-2009 evaluated under unsprayed conditions. Sukkertop fra Vaalse got scab attack on approx. 25% of the leaves, scab attack on approx. 25% of the apples, fruit cancer on only a few branches, mildew attack on approx. 25% of the shoots, very few fruits with flyspeck/soothy blotch and no shoots with rosy apple aphid. The flower buds are mainly situated at young shoots. The colour of the flower at the balloon stage is light pink, the blossom is in the middle of the season. The flowers are small with petals, that are overlapping. The variety is diploid and has the following alleles of self-incompatibility 6/7. The quality and season of the apple The season of the apple is medium early, to enjoy from September/Oktober. Sukkertop fra Vaalse is mature for harvesting early to middle (first part of September)/early (last part of August). The apple has only a little/an average attractive appearance. The flesh is very juicy/medium juicy with a medium/a strong sweetness, medium acidity and some/none or a weak aroma. The apple has a medium tendency to be easily bruised. The overall flavour of Sukkertop fra Vaalse is evaluated as good. The apple stores for a medium time. The external of the apple The apple is medium sized/medium to big with a length of 62/72 mm and a diameter of 63/74 mm, measured at maximum width.
