Søde Æbler fra Aalsrode is or has been suitable for growing in orchards. The apple is a dessert apple. Søde Æbler fra Aalsrode grows at the Pometum. The cultivar is also shown at: Blomstergårdens Pomet/Gl. Estrup. The tree The yield is medium. The canopy density is good. The cultivar is very robust towards apple scab, very robust towards apple mildew og very robust towards apple cancer. Søde Æbler fra Aalsrode got in the period of 2006-2009 evaluated under unsprayed conditions. Søde Æbler fra Aalsrode got scab attack on very few leaves, no scab attack on the apples, no fruit cancer on the branches, no shoots with mildew, very few fruits with flyspeck/soothy blotch and no shoots with rosy apple aphid. The flower buds are mainly situated at young shoots/older branches. The colour of the flower at the balloon stage is yellowish pink, the blossom is in the middle of the season. The flowers are small/medium sized with petals, that are touching each other. The variety is diploid and has the following alleles of self-incompatibility 1/?. The quality and season of the apple The season of the apple is medium early, to enjoy from September/Oktober. Søde Æbler fra Aalsrode is mature for harvesting early to middle (first part of September). The apple has an average attractive appearance. The flesh is dry with a strong sweetness, weak acidity and some aroma. The overall flavour of Søde Æbler fra Aalsrode is evaluated as not so good. The external of the apple The apple is medium to big with a length of 54 mm and a diameter of 71 mm, measured at maximum width. The shape is flat-globose and a little asymmetrical. The groundcolour of the apple is yellow. The covercolour is redbrown. The covercolour covers approx. 25 % of the apple. It forms a a weakly defined flush with strongly defined stripes/only stripes, no flush. The surface of the skin is smooth/greasy. There are some lenticells. The lenticells are small. The colour of the lenticells appear green in relation to the groundcolour and brown in relation to the covercolour. The stalk is long and medium thick, approx. 16 mm long and approx. 2,3 mm thick. The cavity is deep, with some russet. The basin is distinctly ribbed. The internal of the apple When you cut the apple from eye to stalk, you can see the following characteristics: The tube is conical/funnel-shaped and the stamens are inserted in the middle/at the base of the eye. The green lines around the core end at the base of the tube, but don´t touch each other/end at the middle of the tube. The core is obloid. If you cut the apple horizontally, the core will look closed. The diameter of the core is approx. 33mm. The core fill out approx. 0,46 of the cross cut of the whole apple. The pips are medium sized and dark brown. The skin is thin and the fruit flesh has a yellowish colour. The flesh has a medium tendency to browning when cut.
