Tagesminde Æbles History and usage Tagesminde Æble is originally from Denmark from the capitol region from Tagesminde ved Gentofte Tagesminde Æble is a seedling, The variety is or has been grown rarely or not at all in Denmark. The apple is a culinary apple. Tagesminde Æble grows at the Pometum. The cultivar is also shown at: Gl. Estrup. The tree The yield is high. The canopy density is good. The cultivar is robust towards apple scab, robust towards apple mildew og very robust towards apple cancer. Tagesminde Æble got in the period of 2006-2009 evaluated under unsprayed conditions. Tagesminde Æble got scab attack on approx. 25% of the leaves, scab attack on only a few apples, no fruit cancer on the branches, mildew attack on approx. 25% of the shoots, very few fruits with flyspeck/soothy blotch and no shoots with rosy apple aphid. The flower buds are mainly situated at young shoots/older branches. The colour of the flower at the balloon stage is yellowish pink, the blossom is early. The flowers are medium sized with petals, that are overlapping. The variety is diploid and has the following alleles of self-incompatibility 40/?. The quality and season of the apple The season of the apple is late, to enjoy from November/December. Tagesminde Æble is mature for harvesting middle early (last part of September). The apple has more than an average attractive appearance. The flesh is very juicy with a weak sweetness, strong acidity and none or a weak aroma. The apple has a medium tendency to be easily bruised. The overall flavour of Tagesminde Æble is evaluated as not so good. The external of the apple The apple is medium to big with a length of 64 mm and a diameter of 71 mm, measured at maximum width. The shape is globose conical/conical and a little asymmetrical. The groundcolour of the apple is greenish yellow. The covercolour is red. The covercolour covers approx. 25 % of the apple. It forms a only a solid flush. The surface of the skin is waxy. The stalk is long and medium thick, approx. 14 mm long and approx. 2,2 mm thick. The cavity is medium deep, with some russet. The basin is medium deep, and the eye is medium size/large and half open/closed. The basin is none or very small ribbed. The internal of the apple When you cut the apple from eye to stalk, you can see the following characteristics: The tube is conical/funnel-shaped and the stamens are inserted in the middle/at the base/near the margin of the eye. The green lines around the core end at the base of the tube, but don´t touch each other/end at the middle of the tube. The core is onion shaped. If you cut the apple horizontally, the core will look closed. The diameter of the core is approx. 27mm. The core fill out approx. 0,38 of the cross cut of the whole apple. The pips are medium sized and beige. The skin is medium thick and the fruit flesh has a white colour. The flesh is soft with a fine texture. The flesh has no tendency to browning when cut.
