Udby Reinets History and usage Udby Reinet is originally from Denmark Udby Reinet is a seedling, of Blenheim x ? formed før 1920. The variety is or has been grown rarely or not at all in Denmark. Udby Reinet grows at the Pometum. The cultivar is also shown at: Gl. Estrup. The tree The yield is medium/low. The cultivar is very robust towards apple scab, very robust towards apple mildew og very robust towards apple cancer. Udby Reinet got in the period of 2006-2009 evaluated under unsprayed conditions. Udby Reinet got scab attack on very few leaves, scab attack on only a few apples, no fruit cancer on the branches, mildew attack on very few shoots, no fruits with flyspeck/soothy blotch and no shoots with rosy apple aphid. The flower buds are mainly situated at older branches. The colour of the flower at the balloon stage is yellowish pink, the blossom is in the middle of the season. The flowers are medium sized with petals, that are overlapping. The variety is diploid and has the following alleles of self-incompatibility 1/11. The quality and season of the apple The season of the apple is early, to enjoy from August. Udby Reinet is mature for harvesting early (last part of August). The apple has more than an average attractive appearance. The flesh is dry with a medium sweetness, medium acidity and much aroma. The apple has a medium tendency to be easily bruised. The overall flavour of Udby Reinet is evaluated as good. The external of the apple The apple is medium sized The shape is long-conical/ovate/oblong-conical and a little asymmetrical. The groundcolour of the apple is yellow. The covercolour is orange. The covercolour covers approx. 75 % of the apple. It forms a a solid flush with strongly defined stripes. The surface of the skin is greasy. There are many lenticells. The lenticells are large. The internal of the apple When you cut the apple from eye to stalk, you can see the following characteristics: The tube is conical and the stamens are inserted at the base of the eye. The green lines around the core end at the base of the tube, but don´t touch each other. The skin is medium thick and the fruit flesh has a yellowish colour. The flesh is medium firm with a medium fine texture. The flesh has a medium tendency to browning when cut.
