Vinteræble fra Halskovs History and usage Vinteræble fra Halskov is originally from Denmark from Sealand from Halskov ved Korsør Vinteræble fra Halskov is a seedling, formed 1800. The variety is or has been grown rarely or not at all in Denmark. Vinteræble fra Halskov grows at the Pometum. The cultivar is also shown at: Gl. Estrup. The tree The yield is high/medium. The cultivar is very robust towards apple scab, robust towards apple mildew og robust towards apple cancer. Vinteræble fra Halskov got in the period of 2006-2009 evaluated under unsprayed conditions. Vinteræble fra Halskov got scab attack on very few leaves, no scab attack on the apples, fruit cancer on approx. 25% of the branches, mildew attack on approx. 25% of the shoots, no fruits with flyspeck/soothy blotch and no shoots with rosy apple aphid. The flower buds are mainly situated at young shoots. The colour of the flower at the balloon stage is purple, the blossom is very late/in the middle of the season. The flowers are small with petals, that are touching each other. The variety is diploid and has the following alleles of self-incompatibility 3/40. The quality and season of the apple The season of the apple is late, to enjoy from November/December. Vinteræble fra Halskov is mature for harvesting middle to late (first part of Oktober). The apple has an average attractive appearance. The flesh is dry with a medium sweetness, medium acidity and some aroma. Smager af ananas. The apple has a medium tendency to be easily bruised. The overall flavour of Vinteræble fra Halskov is evaluated as good. The external of the apple The apple is big with a length of 59 mm and a diameter of 77 mm, measured at maximum width. The shape is flat/flat-globose and symmetric. There are cracks on the fruit. The groundcolour of the apple is yellow. The covercolour covers approx. 0 % of the apple. There are many lenticells. The lenticells are large. Eventual rings around the lenticells appear light in relation to the groundcolour and light in relation to the covercolour. The internal of the apple When you cut the apple from eye to stalk, you can see the following characteristics: The tube is funnel-shaped/conical and the stamens are inserted in the middle/at the base of the eye. The green lines around the core end at the middle of the tube/end at the base of the tube, but don´t touch each other. The core is hearth shaped. If you cut the apple horizontally, the core will look half open. The diameter of the core is approx. 39mm. The core fill out approx. 0,50 of the cross cut of the whole apple. The skin is thick and the fruit flesh has a yellowish colour. The flesh is soft with a medium fine texture. The flesh has no tendency to browning when cut.
