Aunhusæbles History and usage: Aunhusæble is originally from Denmark Aunhusæble is a seedling, The variety is or has been grown rarely or not at all in Denmark. Aunhusæble is or has been suitable for growing in gardens. Aunhusæble grows at the Pometum. The cultivar is also shown at: Gl. Estrup. The tree: The yield is medium. The canopy density is good. The cultivar is very robust towards apple scab, very robust towards apple mildew og very robust towards apple cancer. Aunhusæble got in the period of 2006-2009 evaluated under unsprayed conditions. Aunhusæble got scab attack on very few leaves, scab attack on only a few apples, no fruit cancer on the branches, no shoots with mildew, very few fruits with flyspeck/soothy blotch and no shoots with rosy apple aphid. The flower buds are mainly situated at older branches. The colour of the flower at the balloon stage is purple, the blossom is in the middle of the season. The flowers are medium sized with petals, that are touching each other. The variety is diploid and has the following alleles of self-incompatibility 1/16b. The quality and season of the apple: The season of the apple is medium early, to enjoy from September/Oktober. Aunhusæble is mature for harvesting middle early (last part of September). The apple has only a little/more than an average attractive appearance. The flesh is very juicy with a weak sweetness, strong acidity and none or a weak aroma. The apple has a medium tendency to be easily bruised. The overall flavour of Aunhusæble is evaluated as good. The apple stores for a long/very long time. The external of the apple: The apple is big/big to very big with a length of 66/75 mm and a diameter of 78/90 mm, measured at maximum width. The shape is flat-globose conical/globose and a little asymmetrical/symmetric. The groundcolour of the apple is greenish yellow/whitish green. The covercolour is red/dark red. The covercolour covers approx. 25 % of the apple. It forms a only a solid flush. The surface of the skin is greasy/smooth. There are many lenticells. The lenticells are medium sized. The colour of the lenticells appear white in relation to the groundcolour and lightbrown/redbrown in relation to the covercolour. The stalk is medium size and medium thick/thick, approx. 10/9 mm long and approx. 3,0/2,8 mm thick. The stalk is swollen. The cavity is medium deep/shallow, without russet. The basin is medium deep/deep, and the eye is large and closed. The basin is a little ribbed. The internal of the apple: When you cut the apple from eye to stalk, you can see the following characteristics: The tube is conical and the stamens are inserted at the base of the eye. The green lines around the core end at the middle of the tube. The core is hearth shaped. If you cut the apple horizontally, the core will look open. The diameter of the core is approx. 21/30mm. The core fill out approx. 0,35/0,34 of the cross cut of the whole apple. The pips are medium sized and brown/redbrown. The skin is medium thick/thick and the fruit flesh has a white colour. The flesh is medium firm with a medium fine texture. The flesh has no tendency to browning when cut.
