Narrative
Annas Æbles History and usage:
The cultivar is originally from Denmark. Rifbjerg, Langeland.
Annas Æble is a seedling of Rifbjerg Gylling x ? formed around 1900 And has been known in Denmark since 1913. The variety has never been widely grown. Annas Æble is, or has been suitable for growing in orchards/in gardens. The apple is a dessert apple. Annas Æble grows at the Pometum. The cultivar is also shown at: Gl. Estrup.
The tree:
The yield is high/medium. The cultivar is very robust towards apple scab, very robust towards apple mildew og very robust towards apple cancer. Annas Æble got in the period of 2006-2009 evaluated under unsprayed conditions. Annas Æble got scab attack on very few leaves, scab attack on only a few apples, fruit cancer on only a few branches, mildew attack on very few shoots, no fruits with flyspeck/soothy blotch and no shoots with rosy apple aphid. The flower buds are mainly situated at young shoots. The colour of the flower at the balloon stage is light pink, the blossom is early. The flowers are medium sized with petals, that are touching each other. The variety is diploid and has the following alleles of self-incompatibility 4/9.
The quality and season of the apple:
The season of the apple is medium early, to enjoy from September/Oktober. Annas Æble is mature for harvesting early to middle (first part of September). The apple has an average/more than an average attractive appearance. The flesh is medium juicy/very juicy with a medium sweetness, medium/weak acidity and much/some aroma. with a slight gooseberry aroma. The acid content in the juice is 0,65 %. The sugar content in the juice is 11,4 %. The apple has a medium tendency to be easily bruised. The overall flavour of Annas Æble is evaluated as good. The apple stores for a long time.
The external of the apple:
The apple is big to very big with a length of 73 mm and a diameter of 79 mm, measured at maximum width. The shape is globose conical/conical and a little asymmetrical. The groundcolour of the apple is greenish yellow. The covercolour covers approx. 0 % of the apple. There are many lenticells. The lenticells are medium sized.
The internal of the apple:
When you cut the apple from eye to stalk, you can see the following characteristics: The tube is funnel-shaped and the stamens are inserted in the middle/near the margin of the eye. The green lines around the core end at the middle of the tube/end at the margin of the tube. The skin is thin and the fruit flesh has a white colour. The flesh is hard/medium firm with a medium fine/course texture. The flesh has no tendency to browning when cut.
