Narrative
Cultivar description: Matkålrot. Johan Auranaune, Statens gartnerskole Rå, anges som förädlare; Cultivar facts: The breeder made this crossing in 1958 with mother ‘Stenhaug’ and an unknown father. He planted out roots of a lot of varieties for free crossing. He harvested seeds and tagged the mother plants. In the first generation he only continued with plants unlike the mother plants. This was done to ensure a real crossing, and not self-pollination. In the first generation there were more than 100 in numbers, in 1970 only 2 and in 1975 one. ‘Vige’ was approved in 1979 and marketed from 1981.
