Narrative
Donor remark: Det første, jeg ved om disse poteterne, er fra "abba min" (min morfar), født i 1902. Jeg fik nogle settepoteter fra ham omkring 1968 og dyrkede dem til omkring 1982. Morfar sagde, at sorten var gammel i hans hjembygd Dalur, Sandoy, da hann voksede op, og de kaldte sorten for "Reyð epli" - røde poteter.Jeg fik sorten på ny fra en nabo (død 2008)i bygden Sandur, Sandoy omkring 1998, der havde fået den fra en ældre mand i bygden godt 30 år før det.I Sandur kalder mange sorten for "Siggepli", og andre for "Reyð epli". Navnet siggepli siges at være kommet fra en kone i Sandur, Sigga á Klettum, som siges at have fået sorten fra familie i Suðuroy. Problemet er, at på gården "á Klettum" har der været flere koner med det navn. Men historien bliver ofte knyttet til Sigga, der var født 1.10.1832. I bygden, hvor jeg voksede op, Nólsoy, kaldte de sorten for "Svørt epli" - sorte poteter.
