Comment: Donor remark: Messukylä is a village in Tampare. The old swede cultivar has been grown in Messukylä village since the beginning of 1900's (at least). There are two alternatives for the origin of the cultivar; either it is of Norwegian origin or brought to Finland by war prisoners. The tuber is rather round, the flesh is yellowish and sweet, and not "sticky". The storage preformance is not very good. The cultivar has been maintained at Loimala farm in Messukylä, Tampare, since the beginning of 1900's. The father of the present grower, Jorma Loimala, produced seeds to a seed company in Russia after the second world war. Otherwise growers have taken care of the seed production themselves.
