Narrative
Ingrid Maries History and usage Ingrid Marie is originally from Denmark from Funen from Flemløse ved Assens It is also known under the synonyms Høed Orange, Ingrid Maries æble. Ingrid Marie is a seedling, of Cox Orange x Cox Pomona formed 1910. Ingrid Marie has been known in Denmark since 1936. The variety is or has been grown widely in Denmark. Ingrid Marie was recommended for growing in Denmark latest in year 2007. Ingrid Marie is or has been suitable for growing in orchards/in gardens. The apple is a culinary/dessert apple. Ingrid Marie grows at the Pometum. The cultivar is also shown at: Blomstergårdens Pomet. The tree The tree has a moderate, spreading/drooping growth. The yield is high. Ingrid Marie got in the years 1997 and 1999 evaluated under unsprayed conditions in southern Germany. Ingrid Marie got no scab on the apples, scab attack on a few leaves og mildew attack on almost half of the shoots. The flower buds are mainly situated at older branches. The colour of the flower at the balloon stage is yellowish pink, the blossom is very late/late. The flowers are medium sized with petals, that are free. The variety is diploid and has the following alleles of self-incompatibility 5/34. The quality and season of the apple The season of the apple is medium early, to enjoy from September/Oktober. Ingrid Marie is mature for harvesting middle early (last part of September). The apple has only a little attractive appearance. The flesh is medium juicy with a strong sweetness, medium acidity and none or a weak aroma. The acid content in the juice is 0,68 %. The sugar content in the juice is 12,6 %. The apple has a big tendency to be easily bruised. The overall flavour of Ingrid Marie is evaluated as good. The apple stores for a long time. The external of the apple The apple is medium to big with a length of 55 mm and a diameter of 73 mm, measured at maximum width. The shape is flat/flat-globose and symmetric. There are cracks on the fruit. The groundcolour of the apple is greenish yellow. The covercolour is purple. The covercolour covers approx. 75 % of the apple. It forms a only a solid flush. The surface of the skin is greasy. The colour of the lenticells appear light brown in relation to the groundcolour and lightbrown in relation to the covercolour. Eventual rings around the lenticells appear light in relation to the groundcolour and light in relation to the covercolour. The stalk is long and medium thick, approx. 19 mm long and approx. 2,2 mm thick. The cavity is medium deep, with some russet. The basin is medium deep/shallow, and the eye is medium size/large and open/half open. The basin is none or very small ribbed. The internal of the apple When you cut the apple from eye to stalk, you can see the following characteristics: The tube is conical/funnel-shaped and the stamens are inserted in the middle of the eye. The green lines around the core end at the middle of the tube. The core is hearth shaped. If you cut the apple horizontally, the core will look closed. The diameter of the core is approx. 26mm.
