Ildrød Pigeon Dronningmølles History and usage Ildrød Pigeon Dronningmølle is originally from Denmark from the capitol region from Dronningmølle Ildrød Pigeon Dronningmølle is a seedling, The variety is or has been grown rarely or not at all in Denmark. Ildrød Pigeon Dronningmølle was recommended for growing in Denmark latest in year 2007. Ildrød Pigeon Dronningmølle is or has been suitable for growing in orchards/in gardens. Ildrød Pigeon Dronningmølle grows at the Pometum. The cultivar is also shown at: Gl. Estrup. The tree The cultivar is very robust towards apple scab, sensitive towards apple mildew og very robust towards apple cancer. Ildrød Pigeon Dronningmølle got in the period of 2006-2009 evaluated under unsprayed conditions. Ildrød Pigeon Dronningmølle got scab attack on very few leaves, scab attack on only a few apples, no fruit cancer on the branches, mildew attack on almost half of the shoots, no fruits with flyspeck/soothy blotch and no shoots with rosy apple aphid. The variety is diploid and has the following alleles of self-incompatibility 7/24. The quality and season of the apple The season of the apple is late, to enjoy from November/December. Ildrød Pigeon Dronningmølle is mature for harvesting early to middle (first part of September). The apple has only a little attractive appearance. The flesh is medium juicy with a weak sweetness, medium acidity and none or a weak aroma. The flesh has a bitter taste. The apple has a medium tendency to be easily bruised. The overall flavour of Ildrød Pigeon Dronningmølle is evaluated as not so good. The apple stores for a medium time. The external of the apple The apple is small with a length of 49 mm and a diameter of 46 mm, measured at maximum width. The shape is globose and a little asymmetrical. The groundcolour of the apple is greenish yellow. The covercolour is red. The covercolour covers approx. 75 % of the apple. It forms a flushed, striped and mottled. The surface of the skin is greasy. The stalk is long and thin, approx. 17 mm long and approx. 1,5 mm thick. The cavity is shallow, with some russet. The basin is shallow, and the eye is medium size and closed. The basin is a little ribbed. The internal of the apple When you cut the apple from eye to stalk, you can see the following characteristics: The diameter of the core is approx. 21mm. The core fill out approx. 0,46 of the cross cut of the whole apple. The pips are small and brown. The skin is medium thick and the fruit flesh has a yellowish colour. The flesh is medium firm with a fine texture. The flesh has a medium tendency to browning when cut.
