Ondrup Moseæbles History and usage Ondrup Moseæble is originally from Denmark from central Jutland from Ondrup Mose ved Odder Ondrup Moseæble is a seedling, formed 1850. Ondrup Moseæble has been known in Denmark since 1913. The variety is or has been grown rarely or not at all in Denmark. Ondrup Moseæble is or has been suitable for growing in orchards/in gardens. The apple is a dessert/culinary apple. Ondrup Moseæble grows at the Pometum. The cultivar is also shown at: Gl. Estrup/Randers Regnskov/Blomstergårdens Pomet. The tree The yield is low. The cultivar is robust towards apple scab, sensitive towards apple mildew og very robust towards apple cancer. Ondrup Moseæble got in the period of 2006-2009 evaluated under unsprayed conditions. Ondrup Moseæble got scab attack on approx. 25% of the leaves, no scab attack on the apples, no fruit cancer on the branches, mildew attack on almost half of the shoots, no fruits with flyspeck/soothy blotch and no shoots with rosy apple aphid. The flowers are medium sized with petals, that are overlapping. The variety is diploid and has the following alleles of self-incompatibility 16c/?. The quality and season of the apple The season of the apple is late, to enjoy from November/December. Ondrup Moseæble is mature for harvesting late (last part of Oktober). The apple has an average attractive appearance. The flesh is very juicy with a medium/a strong sweetness, medium acidity and some aroma. The acid content in the juice is 0,57 %. The sugar content in the juice is 11,0 %. The apple has a medium tendency to be easily bruised. The overall flavour of Ondrup Moseæble is evaluated as medium good. The external of the apple The apple is big with a length of 72 mm and a diameter of 78 mm, measured at maximum width. The shape is globose conical and a little asymmetrical. The groundcolour of the apple is green. The covercolour is dark red. The covercolour covers approx. 50 % of the apple. It forms a flushed, striped and mottled. The surface of the skin is smooth. There are some lenticells. The lenticells are large. The colour of the lenticells appear dark green in relation to the groundcolour and white/greyish white in relation to the covercolour. The stalk is short and thick, approx. 6 mm long and approx. 3,7 mm thick. The end of the stalk has a medium size fleshy knob. The stalk of the center fruit has often a fleshy knob in the cavity. The cavity is medium deep, without russet. The basin is medium deep, and the eye is medium size/small and closed. The basin is fairly ribbed. The internal of the apple When you cut the apple from eye to stalk, you can see the following characteristics: The tube is conical and the stamens are inserted in the middle of the eye. The green lines around the core end at the base of the tube, but don´t touch each other. The core is hearth shaped. If you cut the apple horizontally, the core will look open. The diameter of the core is approx. 31mm. The core fill out approx. 0,40 of the cross cut of the whole apple. The pips are medium sized and beige/brown. The skin is medium thick and the fruit flesh has a greenish colour. The flesh is hard/very firm with a fine/medium fine texture. The flesh has a medium/a very strong tendency
