Blangstedgård nr.156s History and usage Blangstedgård nr.156 is originally from Denmark from Funen from Blangstedgaard ved Odense Blangstedgård nr.156 is a seedling, of Cox´s Orange x Filippa Blangstedgård nr.156 has been known in Denmark since 1953. The variety is or has been grown rarely or not at all in Denmark. Blangstedgård nr.156 is or has been suitable for growing in gardens. Blangstedgård nr.156 grows at the Pometum. The cultivar is also shown at: Gl. Estrup/Blomstergårdens Pomet. The tree The cultivar is very robust towards apple scab, very robust towards apple mildew og very robust towards apple cancer. Blangstedgård nr.156 got in the period of 2006-2009 evaluated under unsprayed conditions. Blangstedgård nr.156 got scab attack on very few leaves, no scab attack on the apples, no fruit cancer on the branches, mildew attack on very few shoots, very few fruits with flyspeck/soothy blotch and no shoots with rosy apple aphid. The flower buds are mainly situated at older branches. The colour of the flower at the balloon stage is dark pink, the blossom is very late. The flowers are medium sized with petals, that are touching each other. The variety is diploid and has the following alleles of self-incompatibility 5/7. The quality and season of the apple The season of the apple is medium early, to enjoy from September/Oktober. Blangstedgård nr.156 is mature for harvesting early to middle (first part of September). The apple has more than an average attractive appearance. The flesh is very juicy with a medium sweetness, weak acidity and some aroma. The apple has only a small tendency to be easily bruised. The overall flavour of Blangstedgård nr.156 is evaluated as good. The external of the apple The apple is big The shape is flat-globose conical and a little asymmetrical. The groundcolour of the apple is greenish yellow. The covercolour is orange. The covercolour covers approx. 50 % of the apple. It forms a a solid flush with weakly defined stripes. There are some lenticells. The lenticells are large. The internal of the apple When you cut the apple from eye to stalk, you can see the following characteristics: The tube is conical and the stamens are inserted at the base of the eye. The green lines around the core end at the base of the tube, but don´t touch each other. The skin is medium thick and the fruit flesh has a yellowish colour. The flesh is medium firm with a fine texture. The flesh has a medium tendency to browning when cut.
