Bodil Neergårds History and usage Bodil Neergård is originally from Denmark from Lolland from Flintinge på Lolland Bodil Neergård is a seedling, of Pigeonnet blanc d´hiver formed 1850. Bodil Neergård has been known in Denmark since 1913. The variety is or has been grown to some extent in Denmark. Bodil Neergård was recommended for growing in Denmark latest in year 1984. Bodil Neergård is or has been suitable for growing in orchards/in gardens. The apple is a dessert/culinary apple. Bodil Neergård grows at the Pometum. The cultivar is also shown at: Gl. Estrup/Blomstergårdens Pomet. The tree The tree has a moderate, upright/spreading growth. The yield is medium. The cultivar is very robust towards apple scab, very senisitive towards apple mildew og very robust towards apple cancer. Bodil Neergård got in the period of 2006-2009 evaluated under unsprayed conditions. Bodil Neergård got no scab on the leaves, no scab attack on the apples, no fruit cancer on the branches, mildew attack on 75 % of the shoots, no fruits with flyspeck/soothy blotch and no shoots with rosy apple aphid. The flower buds are mainly situated at both young and older branches. The colour of the flower at the balloon stage is yellowish pink/light pink, the blossom is late/in the middle of the season. The flowers are small with petals, that are touching each other. The variety is diploid and has the following alleles of self-incompatibility 1/7. The quality and season of the apple The season of the apple is very late, to enjoy from January. Bodil Neergård is mature for harvesting late (last part of Oktober). The apple has an average/only a little attractive appearance. The flesh is very juicy with a medium sweetness, medium/strong acidity and some/none or a weak aroma. The acid content in the juice is 0,72 %. The sugar content in the juice is 13,0 %. The apple has a medium tendency to be easily bruised. The overall flavour of Bodil Neergård is evaluated as good/medium good. The apple stores for a very long time. The external of the apple The apple is medium sized with a length of 69 mm and a diameter of 62 mm, measured at maximum width. The shape is long-conical/ovate/oblong-conical and a little asymmetrical. The groundcolour of the apple is greenish yellow. The covercolour is red. The covercolour covers approx. 0 %/25 % of the apple. It forms a only a solid flush. The surface of the skin is smooth/waxy. The colour of the lenticells appear white/brown in relation to the groundcolour and lightbrown in relation to the covercolour. Eventual rings around the lenticells appear white in relation to the groundcolour and red in relation to the covercolour. The stalk is medium size/long and medium thick, approx. 12 mm long and approx. 2,2 mm thick. The stalk is swollen. The cavity is medium deep, with some russet. The basin is medium deep, and the eye is medium size and open/half open. The basin is a little ribbed. The internal of the apple When you cut the apple from eye to stalk, you can see the following characteristics: The tube is funnel-shaped/conical and the stamens are inserted in the middle/near the margin of the eye. The green lines around the core end at the middle of the tube/end at the margin of the tube/end at the base of the tube, and touch each other. The core is ellipsoid/onion shaped.
