Belle de Boskoop Røds History and usage Belle de Boskoop Rød is originally from Denmark from Funen from Bogø på Nordfyn Belle de Boskoop Rød is a mutation, of Belle de Boskoop formed 1940. Belle de Boskoop Rød has been known in Denmark since 1949. The variety is or has been grown widely in Denmark. Belle de Boskoop Rød was recommended for growing in Denmark latest in year 2004. Belle de Boskoop Rød is or has been suitable for growing in orchards/in gardens. The apple is a culinary apple. Belle de Boskoop Rød grows at the Pometum. The cultivar is also shown at: Blomstergårdens Pomet. The tree The canopy density is good. Belle de Boskoop Rød got in the years 1997 and 1999 evaluated under unsprayed conditions in southern Germany. Belle de Boskoop Rød got no scab on the apples, scab attack on approx. 25 % of the leaves og mildew attack on approx. 25% of the shoots. The flower buds are mainly situated at young shoots/older branches. The colour of the flower at the balloon stage is light pink, the blossom is early. The flowers are large with petals, that are overlapping. The variety is triploid and has the following alleles of self-incompatibility 2/3/5. The quality and season of the apple The season of the apple is late, to enjoy from November/December. Belle de Boskoop Rød is mature for harvesting late (last part of Oktober). The apple has an average attractive appearance. The flesh is medium juicy with a weak/a medium sweetness, strong acidity and much/some aroma. The overall flavour of Belle de Boskoop Rød is evaluated as medium good. The apple stores for a very long time. The external of the apple The apple is medium to big with a length of 74 mm and a diameter of 80 mm, measured at maximum width. The shape is globose conical/conical The groundcolour of the apple is yellow. The covercolour is redbrown. The covercolour covers approx. 75 % of the apple. It forms a only a solid flush. The basin is a little ribbed. The internal of the apple When you cut the apple from eye to stalk, you can see the following characteristics: The tube is funnel-shaped and the stamens are inserted in the middle of the eye. The green lines around the core end at the middle of the tube. The core is onion shaped. If you cut the apple horizontally, the core will look half open/open. The diameter of the core is approx. 41mm. The core fill out approx. 0,51 of the cross cut of the whole apple. The pips are medium sized and redbrown. The skin is thick and the fruit flesh has a yellowish colour. The flesh is medium firm/hard with a course texture.
